Fabulous Poser's Lounge last night at The Red Devil, a tribute to Elvis Costello. We did 'Girls Talk' and 'Oliver's Army', as well as 'Runaway Man.' Since we were only one of two actual 'bands' on the bill they allowed one original tune, which was nice. Jason Stokes, Grammy-nominated Outkast engineer, sat in on geetar and did a bang-up job. He looks good too.
Hope to see you for the International Pop Overthrow fest here in SF in August. We're playing at the Red Devil on the 21st, but there are other venues in the city like Thee Parkside where other fine bands will be playing.
A non-musical tangent, if you're sitting comfy. I am not a political person per se. While I loathe GWB and his toadies as much as anyone with a brain in their head, I don't make much noise about it beyond the dinner table. But a couple days ago I bought an American flag for the first time in my life for $10. I flew it, upside-down, from the roof of my building. Corrrect me if I'm wrong, but I believe when the military flies the SSB upside-down it is a signal of distress. And, damn, if we don't need loud distress calls these days...
A day and a half later it was gone. If it was one of my snotty neighbors, so be it. If it was my landlord, I could haul his ass into court for some First Amendment violation or another. But it might have been Crazy Dave, the homunculus who owns the building next door. Apparently someone thinks I'm un-American. Either way, someone stole my flag, and I want my $10 back.
Showed up at the gig last night at The Delightful Meat Market Yup-fest Place On Lombard St., only to find that the Fox-News-Nascar-shirt-wearing owner had triple booked the night. Double booking happens all the time, but triple? Sheesh, Guido.
Not all was lost. Owner felt bad and bought us dinner and drinks on the house. Nice. Or so I thought.
Then, literally, all was lost. Barfing up perfcectly good fajitas camarones for hours after I got home. Too much information? Sorry...
